Live Catch Moments
This policy explains how this application handles information and how to contact us about privacy.
Information we process
Live Catch Moments is a fictional observation game. It does not use the real camera, microphone, photo library, contacts or location. Your captured game moments, six-second replay descriptions and frame trajectories, titles, favourites, chapter progress, unfinished scene position, preferences and cached daily assignment are stored in a protected file on your device. They are not uploaded. When you request a daily assignment, the app automatically creates a random installation secret in the device Keychain and sends it over HTTPS to register the installation. The server stores only a SHA-256 hash of that secret and its creation time. It also stores public daily assignment dates, built-in scene identifiers, conditions and solutions. Network requests expose connection information, including IP address, request path and timing, to the hosting infrastructure. We do not ask for an account, name, email address or personal photographs.
How we use information
Local game information lets you continue a scene, replay captured moments, keep an album and unlock chapter stamps. The installation credential authorizes deletion of your own server record without an account. The server provides one public daily assignment and checks readiness. Operational error logs contain a random request identifier and an error event so service problems can be diagnosed; the application does not deliberately log installation secrets or album content. No advertising, analytics, profiling or marketing service is integrated.
Service providers and sharing
The backend is hosted on Railway, which processes requests and stores the database on a persistent volume for us. Railway and its infrastructure providers receive network connection and operational information needed to run, secure and troubleshoot the service. Your album and game replay data stay on your device. We do not sell your data or send it to advertising, analytics, social sign-in or email delivery providers. If you choose to contact the privacy email address, your message is processed by the email providers involved in that communication; the app itself has no contact form or email sending system.
Data retention
Local game data remain until you reset or delete them in Settings, remove the app, or remove any copies held in your own device backups. The installation hash and creation time remain on the server until you request deletion using the installation secret. Public daily assignments may be retained as game content and are not personal installation history. We have not configured an application-level automated backup schedule for this service. Railway may retain infrastructure logs or operational copies under its own policies; we do not control or promise a specific retention period for those records. Device backup retention depends on your device and backup provider settings.
Deleting your information
Settings offers a confirmed local reset of the album and progress. The confirmed Delete installation and all game data action first sends an authorized server deletion request, then atomically clears the local album, progress, unfinished scene, preferences and daily cache, and finally removes the device Keychain secret. If the server request fails, the app reports the failure and keeps local data so you can retry. If the server record is deleted but local storage cannot be cleared, the app explains that partial result and retains the local album and credential for retry. If the local cleanup succeeds but credential removal fails, the app reports that remaining step without claiming complete deletion. Retrying may briefly register the same installation credential again before deleting it; no album content is uploaded. Daily assignments shared by all players are not deleted by this action. Deletion affects the active database and local application file; copies in device backups or infrastructure records are subject to their providers' handling. After complete deletion, a new installation is registered only when you next request a daily assignment. The secret is device-only and we cannot recover or transfer an installation if you lose it.
Permissions and your choices
No camera, microphone, location, contacts, notifications or photo-library permission is requested. The app uses ordinary internet access for the daily assignment and server deletion. You can disable connectivity and continue using the campaign and album; a cached or built-in daily assignment is labelled as offline. Language and system Reduce Motion follow your device settings, with additional local game preferences. If permissions are introduced in a future version, the request and this policy will explain their purpose and how to withdraw them.
Your privacy rights
You can inspect, rename, favourite and reset your saved game moments within the app, and request deletion of your installation record in Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of information about you, and to complain to a relevant privacy authority. Contact venetia.chiswick@icloud.com for privacy questions or requests. Do not send your installation secret by email. We may need enough non-secret information to understand a request; because there are no accounts, we cannot identify another device's local album or restore a lost secret.
Security
The deployed service uses HTTPS. Each installation has its own random Keychain credential; the server stores a hash and authorizes deletion against that hash, with no shared app credential. The device credential is marked accessible after first unlock and this device only. Local file writes use atomic replacement and device file protection. Server requests have input and size limits, and credentials are excluded from application logs. These measures reduce risk but no storage or network system can guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
The game is intended for casual players aged 14 and older and is not directed to children under 13. It has no account creation, advertising, purchases or personal-photo collection. If you believe a child has supplied personal information through a privacy enquiry, contact venetia.chiswick@icloud.com so the request can be assessed and handled.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the game's processing practices change. The effective date identifies the current version. The current policy remains available from Settings and the public /privacy page without a login or cookies. Material changes will be described through an appropriate in-app notice or release information before the changed processing applies.
